كنيسة السيدة العذراء سيدة البشارة للرهبان الفرنسيسكان بدمنهور هي إحدى أقدم دور العبادة الكاثوليكية في مصر. تم تأسيسها لخدمة الجالية الكاثوليكية من الأجانب الذين قدموا إلى المدينة بسبب ازدهار تجارة محالج القطن في القرن التاسع عشر.

التاريخ والنشأة

بُنيت الكنيسة في أواخر القرن التاسع عشر، حوالي عام 1875. شهدت الكنيسة عدة تجديدات للحفاظ على طرازها المعماري الفريد، واحتفلت بمرور 150 عامًا على تأسيسها في مارس 2025، بحضور مطران الكنيسة اللاتينية بمصر كلاوديو لوراتي.

الطراز المعماري والمميزات

تتميز الكنيسة بتصميم معماري فريد ومختلف عن الكنائس الأخرى في مصر، وتشمل منارتها جرسًا أثريًا تم تركيبه عام 1881. تعتبر الكنيسة تحفة معمارية ضمن النسيج الحضاري لمدينة دمنهور.

الموقع والطقوس

تقع الكنيسة في شارع تماموس بالقرب من محطة السكة الحديد بدمنهور. تتبع الكنيسة الطائفة الكاثوليكية اللاتينية، وتقام فيها الصلوات والقداسات وفقًا للطقوس الخاصة بهذه الطائفة، وتشكل جزءًا من التطوير العمراني والتاريخي للمدينة، خاصةً بمنطقة ميدان المحطة.

The Church of the Annunciation (Beshara)

The Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation for the Franciscan Friars in Damanhour is one of the oldest Catholic places of worship in Egypt. It was founded to serve the Catholic expatriate community who came to the city due to the flourishing cotton gin trade in the 19th century.

History and Establishment

The church was built in the late 19th century, around 1875. The church has undergone several renovations to preserve its unique architectural style, and it celebrated its 150th anniversary in March 2025, in the presence of the Latin Church Metropolitan of Egypt, Claudio Lurati.

Architectural Style and Features

The church is distinguished by a unique architectural design that is different from other churches in Egypt. Its minaret includes a historic bell that was installed in 1881. The church is considered an architectural masterpiece within the urban fabric of Damanhour city.

Location and Rites

The church is located on Tamamous Street, near the railway station in Damanhour. The church belongs to the Latin Catholic denomination, and prayers and masses are held there according to the specific rites of this denomination. It forms part of the urban and historical development of the city, especially in the Station Square area.
